God is Our Refuge (Psalm 46:1)

Psalm 46 1

Nearly every day I always received many email from my friends. Not a bit from some persons who I don’t know before. Most of them share about their problems or just ask me to pray about everything they need. I always excited to read their email because from their story I always learned so many things for my own goodness and for my spiritual growth as well.

Today I got an email from someone from Thailand. She is a new Christian and told him about her problem. At the end of the email he asked me a simple and common question but for me it is very important to contemplate and often times it’s very difficult to be applied in our daily lives. This is her question: “How to struggle with so many troubles?”

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Psalm 9: 9-10

I am trying to respond her question based on the verse above.  This verse of Psalm is a God’s promise to us. The Lord will be a refuge, a shelter, a hiding place in times of trouble.

One thing we have to remember that the troubles have become a part of our lives. We cannot run and hide from troubles. The problem is, although many Christians who profess to believe in God sometimes forget that He is the source of help in the time of trouble.

When we are in struggling with trials, sickness, and or losses we must be remembered that God is sovereign and He is working in our life even when we cannot understand the unfolding of his providences. When troubles comes to , for example; to a marriage, or parents are struggling with a rebellious child, or like my friend who have troubles in her job, we must remember that God’s word is our source of counsel and that God does not forsake them that seek Him.

Many times Satan suggests that our trouble is so big and there is no hope anymore. Once again, at that time we should to remember that God is God of hope and only to Him we must turn. Psalm 9:10 said: “And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.”

So, how to struggle with so many troubles?

First, we must understand that the power of God will make us believe that nothing is too hard for God. Second, we must truly understand and believe that His merciful gives us hope to call Him in our time of need. The last, this is the important point, we must strongly understand and believe that his faithful assures us that He always keep His promises.

I reaffirm one statement above that God is sovereign and He is working in our life even when we cannot understand the unfolding of his providences. God never stay silent. He knows all our troubles and he certainly proved his promises. Always directs our hearts and minds as well as get into the His presence. Put our faith on Him and trust on His word. Amen.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1

He’s Still Faithful

Christ – the solid Rock, the Tower of refuge,
The Haven of restful calm,
Still reaches out in the worst of times
With a soothing, healing balm.

He’s the peace that passes understanding
That this world cannot give;
The joy unspeakable and full of glory…
The abundant life we live.

He’s the undergirding Strength in fiery trials,
Giving grace to endure;
The Anchor planted deep within our souls,
Holding safe and secure.

He is still our loving Shepherd and Friend
When our dreams fall apart;
And He’s Still Faithful to all who heed His call…
Surrendering their heart.

“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous
forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”( Psalm 37:25)
“…the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” (II Thessalonians 3:3)

God Never Let Us Down

God Never let us down 2

About the last two weeks I really had a very hard situation.  There are so many problems in the office and as a leader I have a very big responsibility to resolve all of the problems. I am weary, powerless and down. But thank you to God! In the midst of my hard situation, within the pressure that I had, I still feel God’s love amazingly. His loving hands still lead every step that I take in this harsh world.

In that situation I read a chapter of Psalm. This chapter really can encourage me so much.

“My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word.  My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, “When will you comfort me?” Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law.  All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth.” Psalm 119:81-88.

If we read the complete of this chapter, this psalm reveals the great love for the written word of God. God’s Word calls the appointments, orders, guidelines, testimonies, teachings, wisdom, truth, justice, and a reprimand. The Word of God is presented as a consolation, protection, wealth, living standards, happiness heart and soul, and a source of answers everything needed. I learn so much from this Psalm. I learn that we need God to be revived and hope filled in this hectic and demanding world. We need Jesus to be redeemed and grace-filled in this harsh and merciless world. We need the Holy Spirit to be restored and spirit-filled this shallow and clueless world. Only Jesus can save us. Only the Holy Spirit can comfort us.

Moreover than it all I am assured, the triune God will never let us down. God will help us. God will pour out hope upon hope, faith upon faith, love upon love. Grace upon grace according to our needs. When we live with God, we will never be short-changed. No matter what is happening around us. No matter what we feel or what we have done or left undone. God will not let us down.

“Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.” (Psalm 119:86-96)

As a human I have limitations. I cannot do anything seemingly is Impossible. But with God nothing is impossible. God is at work behind the scenes. The solution to my problems is on its way.  God always listens to my every word in prayer.The right opportunities will present themselves soon. God is good, all the time!

Well my dear blogger, if you are also currently are experiencing a very hard problem and in difficult situation like me? Whether you feel lost of hope, fear, weary and discouraged?  Is Everything in the front of you seems is impossible? This evening I would like to encourage you to not forget something important and wonderful: “God never let us down” I have felt it personally. My problems have not been completed but I already feel God’s guidance. Slowly but sure God shows His way to solve my problem. God is at work behind my problems. That we need to do is just surrender, pray and take refuge in the shadow of His wings as psalm said: “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.” (Psalm 57:1) Keep alert to God’s guidance and do not forget to always praise the Lord all day long. God will not let us down. Amen.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

God is Our Refuge

Some time ago. A security services company offering me to use escort services.  Their consideration is as woman corporate leader I need someone who has a special ability and trained in protecting a person from an unexpected and harmful situation. One from the board said: “Ma’am, I think you need it. This time there are some many unexpected thing that might threaten our safety. With a guard you will more secure.

I think this is the most ridiculous thing in my life if I use the escort services. I said to them: “Who do you think I am?  Do you think I am a Celebrity, billionaire, or someone very important from government? No! I am just an ordinary woman corporate leader. Many people in this country don’t know me. I am not very famous like Liliane Bettencourt or Christy Walton that people in this whole world knows who she is.”

A conversation above illustrates that in this world there are still many people who do not feel safe and comfortable in their lives. Maybe they feel insecure; they think that there is always a hazard that threatens the safety of their lives. Well, it is a normal. Crime does exist everywhere. This world already filled with various forms of crimes. That’s why the security companies growing faster lately.

As the son of God, I view this issue from the Christianity side. In fact, in the Holy Bible there are many verses in the Bible that gives our protection assurance. First, let’s we take a look in Deuteronomy 33:27:”The eternal God is your refuge,  and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, ‘Destroy them!’ This verse firmly said that God will drive out our enemies and will destroy our enemies. This is a promise from God for our safety.

Hire dozens of guards not automatically ensure our safety. But our God give us safety and security assurance. As written in Psalm 91:11: “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;” and in other verse of Psalm said: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”  Psalm 46:1.

My dear friends, the question is, if we truly persuaded and believe that God is our refuge and God will protect every step of our lives?  Do we still need a bodyguard in every our activity? A bodyguard still human being. God was created it. Bodyguard’s strength would not be able to counter God’s strength and ability. Let us together ponder the following verses:

 “My salvation and my honor depend on Go; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”(Psalm 62:7-8)

We just need to trust in God at all times and surrender our lives into the God’s protection.Amen

Karina
