The Holy Vows

Been quite long time I am not post anything to the blog. Just visiting, reading many great post of my blog friends. It is just because I am busy for my wedding preparation. But Thank you to God, everything has been settled and now just waiting for that great day. Sadly, this evening post would be my last post this year. I promise will come back next year. This last post is not an article or my thought but I only share something important part in a Christian Wedding.  I would like to share my wedding vow.

The most great and important moment in a Christian marriage is when the bride and groom pronounce their wedding vows before God and His congregation. It is the most thrilling and touching moment for them. Utter a vow which is a great commitment not just in the front of husband and wife and their family, but in the presence of God. Few days away, I will say the wedding vow before God and His congregation, as well as in the front of my husband and vice versa.

Honestly, I was a bit nervous. Not because I have to memorize the vow but I will says a vow that will be binds of a lifetime and that must be kept for throughout of my life. The wedding vow is a holy vow, a best privilege in life to love and honor my husband forever. It’s the end of a love seeking journey. I pray to God that I could say it clearly and really come out from the deepest of my heart, understand its meaning and prove it by deeds.

Below is my wedding vow that I will say on 14th December. This evening I would like to share our wedding vows. For the blog friends who are married, this post might bring you to reminisce, recalling the most precious moment on your wedding day. Many love and blessing to you all. I am gonna miss you so much.

Kevin will says,

My dear beloved Karina Susanto, as we stand before both God and man, making public our commitment to one another, I wish to make it known that I recognize first of all God’s authority over my life which is exercised from His loving heart. He has chosen me to be one of his own, and He is now my life. I recognize also that He has blessed me and entrusted to me your life as a free gift that I have not earned. In recognition of these things, Karina, I purpose to love you with His love, to provide for your needs through His enablement, and to lead you as He leads me, as long as He give us life together, regardless of the circumstances. As Psalm 34:3 expressed my heart when I asked you to marry me, so it expresses my heart now: “Glorify the Lord with me and let us exalt His name together.”

Wedding vow 1 - Karina's Thought

I will says,

My dear beloved Kevin Lam, on this precious day, I am reminded of the verse James 1:17 which says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. With a gift such as you, I know that many new responsibilities face me. In 1 Corinthians 4:2, it explains “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”  I cannot do this on my own strength,  but Kevin, by God’s grace and power working within me I desire to be trustworthy as your wife by following your leading submissively, even as unto Christ, loving and serving you in all circumstances as long as He give me life on this earth.

Woman of Faith (Sarah)

Woman of Faith 2

Dear reader, yesterday I posted an article based on book of Esther. This evening I continue with another Biblical woman figure and this time I chose Sarah.

Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.” (Genesis 21:6)

There is quite a noticeable difference between Esther and Sarah. As Abraham’s wife, Sarah did not have a comfortable life. Not like Esther who live in the palace and became a queen. Sarah did not have an easy life. She always follows her husband who following God’s leadership. She always traveled as nomad to accompany Abraham. She also did not have a permanent place or structure where they could build a house.

More tough condition is she had been unable to have children. After waiting for years and years, hoping, and praying, she still does not have children. But finally, after they become very old, God appear and promised Abraham that Sarah would conceive and bare him a son.

By this time, and especially at this age, the idea was so ludicrous and unthinkable to Sarah that she laughed in unbelief at the promise of the Lord, when it was delivered.  Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already very old and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?”(Genesis 18:10-12).

Yet, the book of Hebrews tells us that she settled conviction in the Lord and in His promise: And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.”(Hebrews 11:11)

When God, in His own good timing, does eventually bless her to conceive, Sarah’s testimony is a beautiful one: “God hath made me to laugh.” The laugh of unbelief had been turned into a laugh of overflowing, unstoppable joy. She determines that she will, in fact, tell others of her great deliverance so that can rejoice with her.

What can we learn from the Sarah’s story? Sarah’s beautiful and precious testimony! It could be our reminder about God’s faithfulness. With His time, God changed our sadness and distrust become joyfulness and happiness. With His mercies and goodness, He changed something impossible and unthinkable become possible and reasonable.

My dear friends, if we’re currently in a long wait? Are we waiting for the God’s answer through our prayer? Or this time we are in a very difficult situation? Let us always remember to God’s faithfulness through this story. As God promised to Abraham, He also promised to us and with His will and His time, He will give us everything that we need. Amen.

His Promise

God Never promise

Every time I come into my mommy workspace, I always read this old thought. And every time I read this thought I always reminded that God have a great and beautiful promise to all of us who believe in Him

God never promised
a life without pain,
Laughter without tears
Or sun without rain.
But He did promise
Strength for the day,
Comfort for the tears
and light for the way,
And for all who believe
In His Heaven above
He rewards their faith
In His everlasting love.

In His Hand

In His Hand

We know not what tomorrow brings

Although we plan ahead

For only God alone can know

The pathway we must tread

We cannot know the future

Neither one minute nor one hour

Each circumstance that we must face

Lay only in His power

It’s vital that we live by faith

From minute unto minute

And trusting that each step we take

He’s walking with us in it

We cannot see the future

Nor the trials we must face

But in all things, God promised us

Sufficiency of grace

This alone should give us hope

Whatever be our plans

In knowing that our future lies

In His sweet, loving hands

Becoming A Woman Of Excellence

woman of excellent

A woman of excellence
Is what I long to be,
Filled with your godly wisdom
So it is part of me

A woman of integrity
No matter what I face,
Standing up for righteousness
And for your saving grace

A woman of destiny
Living out your plan,
Knowing where you’d have me walk,
Being guided by your hand

A woman of promise,
Standing on your word;
Holding on to all the truths
While carrying out your work

A woman of compassion
For the ones in the dark,
Those that do not know your love
And have darkness in their hearts

A woman that will never
Compromise the faith
With what the world may offer,
But will keep the narrow way

A woman who loves Jesus
And will only follow Him;
Gladly to give up the world
So His light can shine within

Lord, this is my earnest prayer
As a daughter by your grace,
Grow in me these qualities
As I walk with you in faith.

With additional comment from her parents, her mood get even worse. The boy, has become her “anger releasing target”. And the boy, just silently allowed her to continuously release her anger on him.

Later, the boy graduated from University. He plan to further study overseas but before he left. He proposed to the girl… ” I, don’t know how to say nice words but I do know that, I love you. If you agree, I am willing to take care of you, the whole life. About your family members, I will work hard to convince them and agree on us.”

And her parents, looking at the effort shown by the boy, agreed with them. Finally, before the boy go oversea, they are engaged. The girl stay back in the hometown, step into the working society where as the boy continuing his study overseas. They maintained their relationship through telephone and letters. Although time is difficult to get through with, but both of them never give up.

One day, the girl left home for work as usual on her way to the bus stop, a car lose control and knock her down. As she awake from unconsciousness, she saw her parents and realize how seriously she got hurt and how fortunate of her, not to get killed.

Looking at her parents, with their faced got all wet by their tears, she tried to comfort them. But then, she found out that She can’t even spell out a word, she tried her best to make some voice but all she managed, was to breath without any voice. She’s mute. According to the doctor, the injury affected her brain, and that cause her to be mute for the rest of her life. Listening to her parents persuade, but can’t even reply with a single word, the girl collapsed. Throughout the days, others than crying silently, still it is crying.

Later, the girl discharged from hospital. Returning to her home, everything is still like before. Except that the phone ring, has turned into the worst nightmare of hers. Ring after ring, continuously stimulate her, stimulating her pain But she can’t tell the boy. She don’t want to be a burden to him, and wrote him a letter telling him that she no longer want to wait, the relationship between them ended, and even returned him the engagement ring. Facing the letters and telephone from the boy, all she can do, is to allow tears falling from her eyes.

Her father decided to move, after seeing the pain she is suffering. Hoping that she could forget everything and be happier into a new environment, the girl started to learn, slowly picking up sign language and start over again. Also telling herself to forget the boy.

One day, her best friend tell her that the boy’s back. He’s searching all around for her, she asked her best friend not to tell him about her and asked her to tell him to forget her. After that for more than a year there was no news of boy. One day her best friend tells her, that the boy is getting married soon, and passed the Wedding Card to her. She open the card sadly, but she found her name on the card.

The moment she want to ask her best friend, the boy appear in front of her. With an unfamiliar sign language, he told her ”I spent more than a year’s time, to force myself to learn sign language, in order to tell you, I have not forgot our promise, give me an opportunity, let me be your voice. I love you.”

Looking at the slow sign language by the boy, and the engagement ring she gave back to him, She finally smiled.

Do not be a coward and run away whenever there is a problem, remember that every problem has a solution, never ever break someone’s heart, you may not know when it will happen to you.
