Let’s Praise THE LORD!

LET'S PRAISE THE LORD -Karina's Thought

Yesterday my husband’s friend gave us a couple of “Straw-headed bulbul bird” These birds are species of the songbird. This morning, their beautiful chirp awakened me and made my morning more wonderful than before. The birds chirp merrily like a singer who joyfully welcomed a brightly new day. Through their melodious chirping I really felt God smile and greet His children who just wake up. I and my husband then took time for a moment to enjoy it and before take a morning prayer my husband asked me to sing a praise song “In Moment like This”.  Talk a bit about birds, how do the birds can sing? Scientifically can be explained as follows, Birds have an organ called “Syrinx”, a bony structure at the bottom of the trachea. Syrinx is made up of membrane that can vibrate when air passes over the syrinx. Because of this birds can chirp, singing, whistling, and even talking. What is the function of the birds chirping? Naturally, the birds sing to attract their mate and also to defend their territory. I was thinking, what kind of song they sung? Whether about love? Joy, or about thanksgiving and glory to God who already take care and provide protection as written in Matthew 10:29? However, no matter how, whatever the functions and the songs, for me it is remind me how magnificent God created this universe. God made this universe full of lovely songs. Moreover, it is one of the wonderful graces from God. God put the songs in the bird’s heart, make them chirping beautifully. A bird is God’s fingerprint creation. God made the birds become a greatest singer.

My dear friends, if God put the songs in the bird’s heart. God did the same thing to us as a human. Let’s take a look at the book of Psalm.

He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. (Psalm 40:3 NIV)

This verse is very clear said that God alone gives us inspiration; put the new song in our mouth to use for praise Him. As we love music/song, God also loves music. Music is one of the most beautiful God’s grace because I can’t even imagine how dreary and droughty this life without music. Furthermore, besides music can make our life more lives, we also can see that music has great power to bring people to know God, repented, and believe in Him. Until now I still could see that God touch someone amazingly through praise and worship songs.

There is so many God’s creation that we can enjoy; also there are so many His beautiful works that we can feel. So we ought to lift up our praise to God as our gratitude. The book of Psalm talk so much about the beauty of God’s creation and all His blessings, protection, and His love to us. And many times we are asked to sing to lift up our gratitude to God.

I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. (Psalm 104:33 NIV)

We are also invited to praise all of the God’s miraculous works,

Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. (Psalm 98:1 NIV)

Praise and worship to the Lord is the indispensable part of the Christians lives. Briefly, let’s look at the reasons why we should always praise and worship God.

  • We praise to God because we are created to praise Him. The people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise. (Isaiah 43:21 NIV)
  • Commanded to always lift up praise. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. (Psalm 150:6 NIV)
  • We praise to God because the salvation that has given to us. That I may declare your praises in the gates of Daughter Zion, and there rejoice in your salvation. (Psalm 9:14 NIV).
  • We have to praise him for His eternal love. Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Psalm 106:1 NIV)
  • We praise to God because God enthroned on our praise. Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises. (Psalm 22:3 NIV)
  • We praise for He worthy. “You are worthy, our Lord and God,to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Revelation 4:11 NIV)
  • We need to always praise the Lord for there is power in praise. May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters,their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord. (Psalm 149:6-9 NIV)

Whether we should have beautiful voice so our praise worth, accepted, and please God? I remembered when I was held a Christmas celebration with the orphans last year. There was a teen girl singing a Christmas song titled “Because of Bethlehem”. She didn’t have a beautiful voice like a professional singer but she was able touching my heart and many others so deep.  Through her voice I can felt how wonderful and magnificent God’s love to us. My dear friends, if we refer to verse of Psalm 150:6, this verse didn’t say, “Let those who have beautiful and melodious voice praise the Lord” But the Psalmist said, Let everything that has breath!”  This means that God doesn’t look and assess how beautiful our voice. God is more seeing our sincerity in praising God. The Psalm 9:1a said: I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart” also our praise not only came out from our mouth but rather from our heart. Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:19 NIV) When Paul and silas was in prison, they lifted up praise to the Lord. At the time, their condition was not ideal for singing and praising, even Paul might not an expert singer but He and Silas sang with all his heart, and surprisingly, the Lord came down on top of praises, and God pleased with their praise and He did great things. (Acts 16:25-27 NIV)

Moreover, beside we have to praise to God with all our heart, we have to praise God with all humility. Let God be exalted through our praise. God will not pleased if we praise God with pride because we feel has a beautiful voice. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”(Psalm 46:10 NIV)  Also, God will be pleased with our praise if we have very close relationship with God. We have to always realize that near to God alone we always find rest. Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. (Psalm 62:1-2 NIV)

My beloved readers, have we praise to God this morning? Have we when wake up in the morning we spend our time for a moment to lift up praise to God as our gratitude for His wonderful blessings and grace that always new every morning? Or even otherwise, our mouths just filled with complaints and grumbles about the problems we have to face? Today, allow me to encourage all of us before we start our daily activities let’s take a moment to harmonize our hearts and minds for a moment with a beautiful melody that God has placed in His creation. Feel it, enjoy it and ponder the God’s greatness and blessing that has been poured to us. If the birds can sing in the morning, why we don’t do the same thing? Please remember, God not concerned about how well or bad our voice but God will look at our sincerity in praising Him. Our voice quality should not to be a hindrance to keep praise the Lord. We are not in the front of audience who want hear our beautiful voice but we are coming to The Lord, bow down praise and worship Him as an expression of our gratitude for His wonderful blessings, love, comfort, rest, strength, peace and joy that has given to us. Tomorrow the birds will sing again, do we want participate to glorify God through praise that we raise with sincerity, humility, with a very close relationship, and let God be exalted through our praise? Let’s start make our morning become a beautiful moment to lift up our hand to the Lord and praise:

In moments like these I sing out a song
I sing out a love song to Jesus
in moments like these I lift up my hands
I lift up my hands to the lord

singing I love you, lord
singing I love you, lord
singing I love you, lord
I love you

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

(Psalm 98:4 NIV)

His Eye Is on The Sparrow

spparowI Have so many favorite beautiful hymn song.  Today I would like to share one hymn song called “His Eye Is on His Sparrow” written by Charles H. Gabriel and Civilla D. Martin. There is a short story behind this song. Here’s…

“Early in the spring of 1905, my husband and I were sojourning in Elmira, New York. We contracted a deep friendship for a couple by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Doolittle, true saints of God.

Mrs. Doolittle had been bedridden for nigh twenty years. Her husband was an incurable cripple who had to propel himself to and from his business in a wheel chair. Despite their afflictions, they lived happy Christian lives, bringing inspiration and comfort to all who knew them.

One day while we were visiting with the Doolittles, my husband commented on their bright hopefulness and asked them for the secret of it. Mrs. Doolittle’s reply was simple: “His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”

The beauty of this simple expression of boundless faith gripped the hearts and fired the imagination of Dr. Martin and me. The hymn “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” was the outcome of that experience.”
The next day she mailed the poem to Charles Gabriel, who supplied the music.

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”(Luke 12:7)

God is The Greatest Conductor

The ConductorOn the last Saturday, My fiancé and I spend time to visiting the orchestra rehearsal that would perform on our wedding reception later. I am so surprised and excited to see the rehearsal process.  They play a hymn song “To God be the Glory” (Special request from meJ). I immediately drift in by the music that they play. They play with full of expression and looks very clear they really animates it song. Under the direction of the conductor, the orchestra delivered a beautiful sounds and melodies. I really feel the dynamic of it song. Up and down, softness and loudness, very nicely tempo changes, etc. They can bring the soul of the song very well.

There is something I imagine from that Orchestra. What would be happen if they play without a conductor? Oh! I really can’t imagine it! In the orchestra, a conductor plays an important role. Base on his full scores, He led and guided many musicians to play together so that they can play a beautiful music and the whole musicians submissive and comply with the conductor’s directions.

My mind drifted farther. I illustrate an orchestra like our lives and the conductor is our God. My friends, do you realize that in daily lives we have a greatest conductor? And we all are the musicians? Yes! God is our Conductor and He is the greatest conductor in the whole universe. He just not arranged but even He created us and our lives become a wonderful song. He gives us the dynamic of life. Sometimes He takes us into a difficult time, where there are a lot of sadness and tears. But in another time He gives us beautiful moments of life when we really feel His incredible blessing and His loving kindness and eventually our live become a wonderful music under His directions.

There is something interesting in an orchestra; each musician put a big trust on the conductor.  The musicians strongly believe that the conductor will lead and direct them so they together will provide a beautiful music. Furthermore, when they play their instruments, they read and follow the sheet music that has been provided and they should not be playing a melody in the outside of the sheet music. The whole musician will be obeying, follow the scores and every single order or instruction from the conductor.

So do with us, like an orchestra musicians, we should put a big trust in God. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding”. (Proverb 3:5). We have to believe that God will lead and direct our lives. Not only that; we should to obey and follow His words and commands. Psalm said: “I run in the pat h of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding.” (Psalm 119:32). And ultimately, like music, our lives will be end up beautifully when the time comes.

Well my dear friends, have we ever imagined if in this life we do not have someone to guide and give us a direction? As a Christian, we have to be grateful because we have Lord Jesus Christ and His words as a guide. Whether we believe in God as the conductor of our lives? We should! Let us always embed in our hearts and minds that we have a greatest conductor and He always led and guided our lives to become the most wonderful music of life. And as His child, we have to put a big trust in Him, obey and follow all of His words and commands. He is the greatest conductor of our life. Amen.

Hand of the Master

boy-pianoWishing to encourage her young son’s progress on the piano, a mother took her boy to a Paderewski concert. After they were seated, the mother spotted an old friend in the audience and walked down the aisle to greet her. Seizing the opportunity to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little boy rose and eventually explored his way through a door marked “NO ADMITTANCE.” When the house lights dimmed and the concert was about to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered that the child was missing.

Suddenly, the curtains parted and spotlights focused on the impressive Steinway on stage. In horror, the mother saw her little boy sitting at the keyboard, innocently picking out “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” At that moment, the great piano master made his entrance, quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy’s ear, “Don’t quit.” Keep playing.” Then, leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in a bass part. Soon his right arm reached around to the other side of the child, and he added a running obligato. Together, the old master and the young novice transformed what could have been a frightening situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The audience was so mesmerized that they couldn’t recall what else the great master played. Only the classic, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”

Perhaps that’s the way it is with God. What we can accomplish on our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but the results aren’t always graceful flowing music. However, with the hand of the Master, our life’s work can truly be beautiful. The next time you set out to accomplish great feats, listen carefully. You may hear the voice of the Master, whispering in your ear, “Don’t quit.” “Keep playing.” May you feel His arms around you and know that His hands are there, helping you turn your feeble attempts into true masterpieces. Remember, God doesn’t seem to call the equipped, rather, He equips the ‘called.’ Life is more accurately measured by the lives you touch than by the things you acquire.

Dignity of Labor

Once upon a time in the city of Naples in Italy, there lived a young boy of about eleven years, with his mother. They were quite poor and so both of them had to work, to earn money only t buy their daily needs. The boy worked in a factory, but he loved to sing. In the “thick-tock” of the machines he heard music. In the chirping of the birds and the gurgling of the brooks, he heard the wonderful melodies of nature. He spent all his spare time in learning to read musical notes, practicing on an old piano, and singing songs.

One day, he hopefully approached a music teacher and asked him to help him become a great singer. The teacher made him sing only once and said, “You are hopeless! You have no vice at all! You can never become a great singer”. These words were like a blow across the face of the young lad. They had a crushing effect on him. The poor boy felt like giving up all his efforts. Son he began to wander through the streets of Naples with his fellow teen-age factory workers.

It broke the heart of his mother to see him so disappointed. She had faith in him. She knew what was good for her son. One evening, after dinner she put her hands around his neck and said, “I love the way you sing. Why don’t we both sing our favorite song? It has been many days since I heard you sing”. So saying, she took him to the piano. He played their favorite tune and soon the house was vibrating with the musical notes and the sounds of their singing. They both thoroughly enjoyed it. The mother said, “Why don’t we start you on music lessons? I know a great music teacher who will train you to become an expert. I am sure some day you too will earn fame as a great singer”. The encouraging words of his mother had a magical effect on the boy. He felt he was alive again.

To prove her complete faith in her son the mother made all sorts of sacrifices. She even went barefoot in the cold winter months because she had to pay for his singing lessons. Her constant encouragement, faith in his talent and sacrifices motivated her son to regain his self-confidence and he eventually became one of the greatest singers of all times! His name was Enrico Caruso!

If you go to any Juvenile Court in any part of India today, you will see how day after day; young, fine-looking lads are sentenced to four, five or even more years in the reformatory School. These young men could have been saved form such a disgrace, could have led happy meaningful lives if only they were encouraged to keep busy. But they wasted most of their time wandering in the streets, picking-pocketing, making fun of girls or elderly people, and finally these young men became embittered and angry with no future for themselves and of no use to their country.

Why does this happen? It is because they are idle. Some are idle because after school their parents leave them completely free to do what they please, to go where they please and to waste their time, because the parents themselves are busy at work and come home late. Today, due to the high cost of living and increasing wants, both the parents have to work. If there are no grandparents at home, the children sometimes tend to get out of control. Mostly, they join street-gangs, where they learn to use filthy language, bully others, and develop bad characters.

Some other children are idle because they just sit around day-dreaming or watching the TV hour after hour, wasting their talents and spoiling their health.

At this stage of your life, the most important things are to avoid being idle and being bored. ‘An ideal mind is a devil’s workshop’. It means that if your minds I not occupied doing things, creating something, studying you lessons, or pursuing your hobby, your mind will be filled with undesirable, anti-social thoughts that will land you into trouble.
