They Could Find No Charge

THEY COULD FINE NO CHARGE -Karina's thought

Hello my dear readers, it’s me again with “The Man of faith” series and this post will be the last series. This time I choose Daniel as the last figure. I choose Daniel because coincided with the problem I faced recently. Briefly, please allow me share to all of you.  My problem begins when some time ago, one of our companies won the tender of government’s project. (I am sorry couldn’t mention the country). Turned out this success made envy one of our business competitor then they tried to spoil my reputation by propagates a rumor that in order to win the tender; I gave bribery (In the business world more commonly known as gratification) to some of VIP government officers. To be honest, I am shocked!  Though I really know that the business world sometime is so cruel, I’m still shocked. In my whole life, there’s no one slandering me even in the business world. Since for the first time I get into the business world, I always try hard to not do things that contrary with God’s command and against the law, as well as my parents’ advice. Within a short time, it became a hot topic among the entrepreneurs and as the result I must face some authorities department of government to make a clarification. Many of friends who really know me didn’t believe it but many other believe and start to pout and cornered me. Even worse, they started to stigmatize me as a hypocrite Christian. It was really disturbing my heart and mind.  When I discussed this problem with my husband, with a gentle smile he just said, “Please remember to Daniel’s story. I do believe you surely know what should to do…”

My mind instantly drifted to figure of Daniel. Daniel was a successful man. He was said to be ten times better than all the magicians throughout his kingdom (Daniel 1:20) Daniel also well-known as an intelligence man that exceed 120 satraps of the king and two other governors. (Daniel 6:2 – 4) Above of all, Daniel was used to praying and praising God three times a day no matter he was busy or not. (Daniel 6:10)

Daniel’s successful made the administrators and satraps envy and they tried to find some charge against Daniel. But the Bible mentioned:

… But they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error or fault found in him. (Daniel 6:4)

But because they’re too spiteful and were determined to destroy Daniel’s career, they’re working hard to find fault and trapping Daniel. Finally they found the way and then said, “We shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it against him concerning the law of his God.” (Daniel 6: 5) The next plot was, they establish a royal statute and a firm decree with the content is: “whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except to the king, shall be cast into the den of lions.” (Daniel 6: 7) Then they immediately went to the king to ask him to sign the decree and finally the decree signed!

When Daniel heard about the new decree, was he afraid?  Was he stopping to pray? Not at all! Daniel didn’t flinch, didn’t worry! Daniel made no attempt to escape or pretend to not praying. Daniel didn’t pray furtively. What Daniel did was describing a remarkable step of faith.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days. (Daniel 6:10)

Even when he cast down into the lion’s den, by strong faith he said:

My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you.” (Daniel 6: 22)

What was said by Daniel was right. It was proven when the king gave command to cast those who had accused Daniel into the den. Them, their children, and their wives; and the lions overpowered them, and broke all their bones in pieces before they ever came to the bottom of the den. (Daniel 6:24)

Daniel survived because of his faith. In all respects, including when he was having problems, He didn’t rely on his own strength to overcome it. He didn’t choose to flee, or seek misguided completion alternatives. When the trouble comes, Daniel came to God. He remained calm, and prayed to God. When he was about being harmed, he remained believe with firm faith in God, even he gave a remarkable testimony on an awesome and amazing God’s power.

My dear friends, after I ponder again the Daniel’s story, I felt enlightened and make me even know how I should behave. First, I have to believe and keep rely on God. In the life and death situation, Daniel’s faith didn’t waver at all. Daniel still believes that God will save him. King Darius have seen even his great faith before he cast to the lion’s den. The king said: “Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you.” (Daniel 6:17) Although I had a similiar problem with Daniel, we had a different situation. I will not get capital punishment like Daniel. So I think there’s no reason for me to be overly afraid and worry about the accusation and slander on me. My husband reconfirms, like a beautiful gem, though they being in the dirty mud hole they remains a beautiful gem. People may try to defame and ruin your reputation, but it is okay if you did nothing wrong. The truth is always being a winner. Daniel didn’t afraid because he believe God always be with him and he did nothing wrong”

The next important thing that I should to do is remain faithful. Daniel’s faith and believing in God shown by still pray and worship God faithfully. When he knew there was a new decree that hinder him to worship and pray to God, the first thing he did was went home and knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God. The last important thing I should to do is I shouldn’t grudge and returning evil for evil. Some of my friends suggested me to not just make a clarification but should to hit them back because they had arbitrarily tarnished my reputation. But once again my husband said,” Hit them back isn’t a wise act and not solve the problem instead will cause other problem. God’s word said: “Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. (Romans 12:17) Vengeance is God’s authority. Even actually God said that we must love our enemies and pray for them.”

My beloved friends, the problem that happened to me could possibly occur to all of us. The question is when it happens, what should we do? Where should we go? Today, please allow me to encourage all of us to learn from Daniel. At least we could learn three valuable things from Daniel. First, through Daniel we can learn about the power of prayer. When because of the envy people try to malign, defame, or find fault on us, there’s no other better way than take it into prayer.  James 5:16 said:

“…. Effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Let us cry out to God through prayer. David said:

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried out to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry entered His ears.” (2 Samuel 22:7)

The second, we must trust that the God’s power will help us. Daniel truly believes in God’s power, the king Darius saw God’s power by his own eyes, and miracles happened to save Daniel. Eventually, the king Darius honors God and made a decree that in every dominion of his kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. (Daniel 6:26) My problem hasn’t finish but I must remain lean to God, not lean not on my own understanding.  By faith, I strongly believe God will help me to reveal the truth. I know I will be in a very difficult situation and those who slandered me will not cease to looking for my fault, but once again, I don’t have to worry because:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6)

For God nothing will be impossible (Luke 1:37)

With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. (Proverb 3:5)

The last, this’s about faithfulness. When Daniel knew that there was a new decree from the king, Daniel’s faithfulness didn’t shaky at all. He still faithful worship and pray three times a day as he usually did. In our daily lives, our faithfulness being tested when we face problems and tribulation severely. Are we remain faithful walk in the God’s way and not be tempted by worldly offers? Let Daniel’s faithfulness become a great example for us to be always faithful to God. God’s word said:

Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Revelation 2:10)

My dear friends, God can deliver us from anything, even the most impossible thing according to human logic. Our God is fearfully and wonderfully God. When faced with the problems, slander, and being framed by the people who controlled by envy, don’t be afraid and worry. Let’s come to the Lord and pray. Ask for wisdom. God will always hear His children that pray earnestly. God will give us strength to overcome our problems.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)

Cast our anxiety on Him because He cares us for us. (1 Peter 5:7)

Although we are slandered and harmed, we should not grudge and revenge, instead, as the Lord has commanded:

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.” (Luke 16:27-28)

Therefore, God’s love and greatness will be shows wherever we are and we could be the light that shine and bless many people even our enemies. Amen.

  1. There is nothing like having your character attacked. My husband faced similar attacks in business, but he has remained faithful to God. Even though time took his business away, but he has always remained faithful, even in times of trial. I pray that you will not suffer for untruths told of you. The business world can be brutal at times, but as you say, all things are possible with God. He will sustain you. God bless, Karina

    • Dear, sister Kathy
Thank you very much for your encouraging comment also for your husband’s story. It means a lot to me. Yes all things are possible before God and we have to believe it. Once again thank you so much, sis. God bless. Have a nice day.

  2. I can understand that attacks on character. I had once in the army someone was attempting to make me look bad. A good friend suggested I pray blessings on my enemy rather than judgement or vengeance prayers. Within days the situation turned around and the other person was moved.
It is amazing how God can work things out if we remain faithful to Him.
    Thanks for sharing!

    • Dear,brother in Christ Tom.
Thank you very much for sharing your personal story 🙂 Yes you are so right. Judgement or vengeance just make a new problem and not solve the problem.I strong believe God will work on my problem amazingly as long as we always faithful to Him. Thank you, brother Tom. God bless. Have a great day.

  3. Dear, Godly sister.
When I read it. I just smile on my face. why I am smiling? Just because people who slander you really don’t know who really you are. I totally agree with brother Kevin. The truth always be a winner and in God there is nothing impossible. Keep pray for you,my beautiful gem.

  4. What a beautiful example of Christ you are, Karina! You’re handling this situation with such grace…much more than I would, I’m afraid. Praying this gets resolved quickly, that your good name will be fully restored, and that our Father will be glorified through your struggle. Grace and peace to you!

    • Dear, sister Rebeca
Thank you very much for your prayer, sis.Actually, for the first time i was afraid too. But I soon realized that we have God who can do anything. I learned from Daniel as well. Thank you for your caring, Sis. God bless.

  5. I am praying for you, Karina. So sorry to read about your travails. Character assassination is one of the worst sins one can commit.

May God’s grace continue to sustain you and your family. God bless you.

  6. So much of this speaks to something I’ve been struggling with for a while. It’s just another confirmation of what I know God wants me to do. There is so much uncertainty about my future, and as much as I’ve prayed to see what path to take, all He says is, “Hold out a little longer. Remain faithful.” Thank you for your encouraging reminder! I hope and pray that your situation is resolved. Jesus’ name has power over all things, and He dearly loves His children! 🙂

    • Dear,Brother in Christ Michael.
Yes remain faithful and believe to God are the things we should to do. When God said:”Wait” then we have to remain faithful and believe He will gives the best answer for us. Thank you and God bless.

  7. My goodness, what a story about your business competitors! But it is, as you have said, just that way in business and in the world in general. You are not the kind of person who is “of the world.” You were called out of the world to serve the Lord by way of your faith, Karin. The nerve of those who falsely accuse you!

You chose a wonderful story to go along with your own in Daniel. He served his God first, but also served faithfully the country in which he lived. He trusted in faith that he would be spared in the lion’s den, and he was. You will prevail as well because of your innocence in this act of business!

I have much respect for you, both as a person and a friend, sis! It hurts my heart that you would be accused of a crime by others who covet what you and your business earned honestly. But for those who question your Christianity, extra shame is brought upon their heads!!

You just do the best job you can with this new piece of business and pay no more attention to the others! You are a wonderful person, mother, wife, and most of all…Christian! Don’t ever forget that, my dear!

    Until next time…
    Brother Steve

    • Dear,brother Steve.
Thank you so much for your encouraging comment. I really…really appreciate it. Doesn’t matter what they did and what they will do, the truth still be the truth. Daniel was a good example to always walk in the God’s path. I strongly believe God will never leave me alone to face this problem. Bro, thank you for your always support me in any circumstances. God bless and have a wonderful day.

      • You are very welcome, Karin. I consider myself a pretty good judge of people, and I believe you are a genuine and sincere Christian. God sees this too, and you will be rewarded for any religious persecution you face in His name, as the scriptures state in the book of Matthew.

Continue to stand for the truth here and in all of life’s trials. God is at work in your life!

Take care, sis, and again, thank you for your new post about Daniel!

        Brother Steve

  8. That’s really tough, Karina. But my prayers are with you that God will see you through. When we do right (even when wronged) we have God on our side. And nothing or no one can prevail against us. He always knows the truth – and in the end will always bring it to light! Stay strong. Be encouraged.

    • Dear, sister in Christ Sheila.
Thank you very much for your lovely and encouraging words. I really appreciate it. Yes we have God on our side so we don’t have to worry 🙂 Thank you, sis. God bless.

  9. I have been waiting for the next in this series! I am sorry you had that spot of trouble, but it was a great illustration for this post. God knows best even when it’s not always so good for us. God bless you Karina, and I hope the trouble is behind you now.

  10. Your problem enabled you to see the hand of God in your life even more. Bless you Karina for this wonderful post. It ihas been a great inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

    • Hello, dear. .
Thank you so much for the kind words. I am agree with you. Through every of our problems we will see How great our God in helping us. Thank you and God bless 🙂

  11. Karina, this is an excellent post! Thank you for sharing what you are going through with the rest of the body of Christ and even encouraging US in the process 🙂 God has given you much wisdom and understanding. Know that we stand with you in prayer and faith that God’s truth will prevail!

    • Dear, Lauren
Thank you very much for your lovely and encouraging words on my post. Also thank you for your prayer and reblogged this post. God bless and have a wonderful weekend.

  12. Reblogged this on Aletheia_Word and commented:
As Christians we are not guaranteed a problem-free life; rather, Scripture provides many passages that talk about Christians being slandered and persecuted. But how should we respond? Karina Lam has written an excellent post about Daniel’s faith as he faced the lion’s den and how his actions have helped her with a difficult situation of her own. Read and be encouraged that the God’s truth and justice will prevail!

  13. Amen! I believe you’re doing all that’s needful and God will surely do His part and honour your faithfulness and exalt His name through your trials. You are blessed, Sister.

      • Good day/evening sis! Hope all is well with you and your family. Did you do well with golf this past weekend…? (Lol)

I’m doing well enough. Just waiting to see what my MRI looks like for my spine. And then I need to know what the doctor says. (Surgery or not)…

You know, you have to get tough to get old, Karin…it’s a truth you won’t know for many years to come, Lord willing!

        Enjoy your day/evening, my dear!

        Bro. Steve

        • Hello brother..
Thank you very much for stopping by. We didn’t go to the golf club this past weekend because my husband should be a speaker in a business seminar. So I and Andrew just spent time at home.
I pray for your health condition especially for your spine. I strongly believe God will gives the best way for you.
Well, I remembered my daddy’s words about getting old. He said, Getting old is a great blessing from God. Because why? because after I am getting old I could see in complete God’s blessing in my life. I could see my daughter grow and become a great person, I could see my grandson grow and become a great man as well. And it all just a blessing from God 🙂

Ooops.. Too much talk I think 🙂 Okay bro, thank you very much for always keep in touch with me. Pray for you and God bless.

          • No, Karin, you never talk too much! I love reading what you write, both in your posts and to me personally. And I love the new logo picture! God has blessed you with great beauty, sis 🙂

Your father is correct about seeing blessings come true through the kids and grandkids! To watch them grow and prosper is a blessing from God. I do enjoy watching mine as they come along…but of course, it seems that it happens way too fast…Lol!

Ooops, now look who’s talking too much! Thank you for the thoughts and prayers for my health. I have another test on the 27th of this month. Hope they can tell me finally if I need surgery from that one…

Take care and may God love and bless you and your beautiful family always!

            Bro. Steve 🙂

  18. Hi Karina!
I am so sorry to hear about what you going through. I am also sorry for only reading this now as well. I hope you are in a better place now. I know that I know God will vindicate you in man’s eyes.
I am in a similar situation with a person from church who is in leadership. They are always thinking the worst anout me and saying it. It’s so hard to carry myself in the way that honors God. Actually, it’s been really hard but by God’s grace He has been helping me deal with it the right way in the way I speak to her and treat her. It’s been a growing time for me. So may God help you in this time as your character gets strengthened! I will be praying for you. Bless you and your family!

  19. For all of us who love Him first, it will come down to this- “For me to live is Messiah, to die is gain”.
Peace to you and your family.

The seasons are a gift from God to us. We all have our favorite times of the year, but we also enjoy the changes of the seasons as well. We humans are a funny bunch!

How old is that child of yours now…about 2-3 years old? It seems like it was just yesterday that you were pregnant! Do you get to visit your parents in Canada often?

Yes, it is nice for your parents to be able to move around a bit. They can enjoy their lives and still be involved in some business ventures. They are probably a pretty happy couple!

And as for Andrew, he sounds as normal as any other 2 yr. old! It is true, you must “pack your patience” when bringing up a youngster of that age! But I’m sure you and your husband do a wonderful job:) !

Thanks for the reply and have a super weekend, my dear…

            Bro. Steve 🙂

  22. What you shared about you adversity is well received. Your honesty about your position will propel you to a much better outcome than you might expect because the Lord isn’t looking on the outward appearance, for God looks upon the heart. I encourage you to keep your heart with all diligence for out of the heart come the issues of life; your integrity, your honesty, your faith, your confidence in God, as well as everything that pertains to life and Godliness. God bless you Karina. I will pray for your best outcomes in your endeavor to seek the Lord’s wisdom. Blessings to you and your family.

    • Dear, brother in Christ Thomas
Than you very much for the great encouragement. It means so much to me. Also thank you for the prayer 🙂 God bless to you and your family too.

  23. Powerful testimonial Karen.

My advice after fifty years in business is sometimes to survive in the business climate, is to relate how God fortifies his creatures. For example, in the jungle, an alligator is given a thick skin for protection in their environment..

Business experience in time will do the same for you.

Your husband is a wise man in my opinion. Your faith will comfort and shield you in life.

    Regards and goodwill blogging.

  24. Karina, great words. Even in the Christian world I am shocked at times by the behavior of those who call themselves rollers of Jesus. I ,too know it really doesn’t matter if we call ourselves Christians, we are still capable of evil. Yet – I am still shocked sometimes. But God is always more powerful and when we focus back on Him. He brings hope!

  25. Karina, I love your post as always, giving me a fresh view of something familiar. Don’t distress, in my own experiences I have learned that our Father uses our “problems” to promote us. Do not let your enemies take your joy. Keep doing what is right and God will vindicate you in due time. Peace and Blessings to you and your family. God has your situation in the palm of His hand!

  28. Sadly Sister Karina, we are living in a time when this is going to become even more prevalent. It is a time when the Holy Spirit is going to separate the “wheat from the chaff” and yet, this is not meant to discourage those who are truly walking with the Lord.
You nailed the truth on the head with this post for those walking IN Christ, truly walk in faith. I have had to tackle some issues that I don’t like to confront in “religious” circles, because I would much rather preach/teach those things that are more pleasing. The fact remains, if we DO walk in faith, we have to also be obedient to the Lord in what we exhort to others and make sure we are speaking/writing what He by His Holy Spirit tells us too.
This is NOT always the popular course, but in this day and age when manipulation, lies and blatant corruption are the norms for getting ahead, our Heavenly Father is looking for those like Daniel who will stay the course, no matter what comes against them!
Sis, I was touched by this article and even though I haven’t been around as much as I would like do to health concerns, I have been edified by such a positive take on continuing to walk in faith no matter how things and situations around you look!!
God bless you deeply for your walk of faith, for your continuance in sharing God’s message and for building up the “saints” in a way that is unique to you!!

    • Dear, Pastor Roland
Thank you very much for needed to ponder response to my post. Only by God’s strength and wisdom I could face this trial and finally God answered my prayer and the problem solved beautifully 🙂 I am grateful God always stand firm beside me to go through this problem. Dear Pastor, once again thank very much your wonderful response. God bless 🙂

  29. We live in perilous times. Not only are we now battling the coronavirus, but dictatorships are on the rise. Meanwhile, large scale protests are under way against racism, many of them violent. The Book of Daniel has great bearing on these events. But “the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear” (Isa. 59: 1). Stay safe and well, Karina. ❤
