The Fragrance of Grace

Fragrance of grace

We are your children, Lord,
Saved by your precious grace
And walking in your victory,
Living by hope and faith

We come before your holy throne
And worship at your feet,
Our souls renewed with new hope,
Our spirits now set free

We yearn to know you more, O God,
More than we do right now
And we long for your presence, Lord,
As before your throne, we bow

May we be as fragrant offerings,
An incense of the Lord
That you may take pleasure in us,
A vessel you have called

So you may fill to overflow
With your Holy Spirit of truth,
So we can take your gospel, Lord,
To those who don’t know you

And be to them as Jesus was,
To love them all despite
Wherever they have come from, Lord,
For you can change their lives

So they can come before you
And worship you with praise,
To come into your presence, Lord,
And receive your saving grace.

Spreading a Fragrance of God’s Grace

 Spreading fragrance of God's Grace

Some time ago when my parents returned from their business trip, they bought me some perfumes from various brands. I really love perfume. Every day I always use it and I think every woman likes and use perfume too so that always smelled fragrant wherever she is. When I tried one perfume, don’t know why suddenly I remembered a bible story about a woman who poured a most expensive perfume to Jesus’ head.

Mark 14:3: “While He was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on His head.”

This is a beautiful act of love towards Jesus. This woman took her best; she gave a most expensive perfume to Jesus as an expression her love to Jesus. What prompted her to do this? Did she know Jesus was going to die? She obviously saw something beautiful in Jesus and wanted to express her love for Him. Maybe she didn’t know how significant this act of love was.

If the woman in that story gave a most expensive perfume to Jesus, What can we give as an expression of our love to Jesus? What could we do? Like a perfume which always spread it fragrance, I think we should always spread a sweet smelling perfume of God’s grace no matter wherever we are. It is written in 2 Corinthians 2:15: “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”

My dear lovely friends are we ready to be like a sweet fragrance of God’s grace so wherever we go we will spread the fragrance of God’s Grace to others? This evening I encourage all of us to be as the woman in that story. Let us give ourselves wholly to Him, as He gave himself wholly as a fragrant offering for the forgiveness of our sins. Let’s we express God’s love to the people around us so that they also can smell the fragrance of God’s love.

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.” (Proverb 27:9).

Through the fragrance of God’s grace, let’s be a blessing to others around us. He has been poured out His grace upon us a sweet smelling perfume and now our task is spreading His fragrance everywhere we go. Amen.
