Make Me Always Thirsty

ThirstyDear God in Heaven,

Make me always thirsty for Your greatness and truth

  thirsty for Your divine thoughts

thirsty for Your Holy Spirit fulfillment

Make me always thirsty for Your Wisdom words and promises

thirsty for your love and compassion

thirsty for Your abundance blessing and grace

Make me always thirsty for Your Heavenly comfort

thirsty to always praise You endlessly into the universe

thirsty to always become the light among the darkness

Make me thirsty to always bring the tidings of joy and salvation

thirsty to always bring to You weary and burdened soul

As the deer pants for the water my soul thirsts for God, for the living God. Amen

A Spiritual Makeover

Psalms 90:17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

This evening there was something that made me a bit shocked. My friend called and she said would go to Korea for plastic surgery. I asked, “What happened to you and what kind of plastic surgery you want to do?” ” I would like to makeover my nose and chin!” She said.

Gosh! It does make me thinking. How important physical appearances for someone, especially for a woman. I am fully understood that appearance is important. Everyone wants to look beauty and perfect to others. But if doing a surgery is not that mean there is an indication that we not satisfied and do not appreciate what God has given to us? I was reminded the story of the former president of Harvard University.

Charles William Eliot, former president of Harvard University, had a birthmark on his face that bothered him greatly. As a young man, he was told that surgeons could do nothing to remove it. Someone described that moment as “the dark hour of his soul.” Eliot’s mother gave him this helpful advice: “My son, it is not possible for you to get rid of that hardship…But it is possible for you, with God’s help, to grow a mind and soul so big that people will forget to look at your face.”

My dear friends, Lets we take time for a moment to pondering the story above. Like my friend, sometimes or maybe often we always concerned with our physical appearance. Many of us tend to spend a lot of time and money to makeover and cover up everything that we see does not look good. There is one thing that we should never forget. Genesis 1:31 said God saw all that he had made, and it was very good….” it means that everything that has been created by God is good and perfect. The question is, whether we need to change everything that has been created by God? If by doing that, is not that mean we do not appreciate and be grateful for what God has given? I really do agree with Mr. Elliot’s mother advice. When our mind and soul was growing in God, People will no longer look only on our physical appearance.

God has made humans as his image. Humans just need to understand that body will perish and the Holy Spirit will seek him when the body perishes. When the Holy Spirit is with the body follow good deeds so Holy Spirit will enjoy the limited ride. (comment from Kalyaan)

Do you really want to make a drastic difference in your appearance today? Let’s start not focusing on our outer appearances but on inner appearances and focusing on what really counts. Walking uprightly and wholeheartedly with the Lord. A spiritual extreme makeover! We will glow like never before.  Appreciate and love everything that is within us because all of it is just solely because of His grace. Amen.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. ( 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20)
