Pray for Meeting

This morning I held first official meeting with my board of directors, and Managers. There is one thing that makes them a bit surprised and puzzled. They looked at each other quizzically. There is a different and unusual thing from the previous meetings. What is it? Before start to meeting I ask them to pray together. This is an unusual thing for them even though most of them are Christians, but they never prayed before the meeting. I truly understand about this issue because my daddy never ask them to pray when he lead a meeting.

I to get across to them that from now on that I want   pray to be a habit before the start of the meeting. Maybe they are thinking that as a Christian, I am too overwhelming. No!  I am not overwhelming. I have some reason why I want to pray together before start the meeting. And my reasons are…

 To Be Grateful

Why I should to be thankful? First, be grateful for the time that God has prepared for the meeting. Then be grateful to those who have attended the meeting.  I understand they are having their duty and responsibility that must be completed and for meeting they are had to leave their jobs. Even though I was a top leader in the company I have to appreciate their work time. Without all of them, I am nothing.

God’s Intervene

I want let God to intervene in the meeting that I lead.  So every decision or meeting results derived from His wisdom. Not just from my own wisdom and knowledge or from my board of executive. Furthermore, I do not want to count on my own ability to make decisions in the meeting. As mentioned in the bible verse “Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man And makes flesh his strength, Whose heart departs from the Lord “(Jeremiah 17:5,KJV). Through prayer we invite God present in the middle of a meeting and let the Lord gives wisdom and discretion during the meeting conversation.

Courage, wisdom, and clarity of speaking

As a meeting leader I pray that God gives me the courage and wisdom of speaking. Ido notwant to looknervouswhen I amspeaking. Especially when speaking in front of people who are older than me and more experienced than me. I also need a wisdom of speaking in order every my utterance do not seem patronizing or ruling (1 Corinthian 12:8). I also have to make sure that they are can even understand clearly about everything that I said. Therefore, I must speaking clearly and maintain my clarity voice. (Psalm 141:1-3)

Be a an example and the light

God teaches ust o be an examplefor others. Bible verse said: “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12,KJV). Moreover, not be an example of the believers but the most important is being an example for non Christian people. As a Christian we also must be the light for others.” For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light” (Ephesians 5:8). Through prayer before the meeting, at least we have to be an example, we have to reflect that we have become light in the Lord and we walk as children of the light.

That’s the reasons why I started the meeting with prayer. And I think not just for the meeting, in every our activities we should have to start with prayer. So in every activity, God always be with us. Amen
