My Night Prayer

praying-hands-crucifix-361x280

Eternal Father,

I desire to rest in Your Heart this night. I make the intention of offering to You

Every beat of my heart, joining to them as many acts of love and desire.

I pray that even while I am asleep I will bring back to You souls that offend You.

I ask forgiveness for the whole world, especially for those who know You and yet sin.

I offer to You my every breath and heartbeat as an act of reparation.

Amen

Becoming A Woman Of Excellence

woman of excellent

A woman of excellence
Is what I long to be,
Filled with your godly wisdom
So it is part of me

A woman of integrity
No matter what I face,
Standing up for righteousness
And for your saving grace

A woman of destiny
Living out your plan,
Knowing where you’d have me walk,
Being guided by your hand

A woman of promise,
Standing on your word;
Holding on to all the truths
While carrying out your work

A woman of compassion
For the ones in the dark,
Those that do not know your love
And have darkness in their hearts

A woman that will never
Compromise the faith
With what the world may offer,
But will keep the narrow way

A woman who loves Jesus
And will only follow Him;
Gladly to give up the world
So His light can shine within

Lord, this is my earnest prayer
As a daughter by your grace,
Grow in me these qualities
As I walk with you in faith.

The Three Old Man

last3WSLA woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said “I don’t think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat.”
“Is the man of the house home?” they asked.
“No”, she replied. “He’s out.”
“Then we cannot come in”, they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.
“Go tell them I am home and invite them in!”
The woman went out and invited the men in”
“We do not go into a House together,” they replied.
“Why is that?” she asked.

One of the old men explained: “His name is Wealth,” he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, “He is Success, and I am Love.” Then he added, “Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home.”
The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. “How nice!!” he said. “Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!”

His wife disagreed. “My dear, why don’t we invite Success?”
Their daughter was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: “Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!”
“Let us heed our daughter’s advice,” said the husband to his wife.“Go out and invite Love to be our guest.”

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, “Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest.”
Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: “I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?”
The old men replied together: “If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would’ve stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him.

“Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success…”

Life Together

old-couple-holding-handsOne fine day, an old couple around the age of 70 walks into a lawyer’s office. Apparently, they are there to file a divorce.

Lawyer was very puzzled, after having a chat with them, he got their story….
This couple had been quarreling throughout their 40 plus years of marriage. Nothing ever seems to go right.

They hang on because of their children, afraid that it might affect their up-bringing. Now, all their children have already grown up, have their own family, there’s nothing else the old couple have to worry about. All they wanted is to lead their own life free from all these years of unhappiness from their marriage, so both agreed on a divorce….

Lawyer was having a hard time trying to get the papers done, because he felt that after 40 years of marriage at the age of 70, he couldn’t understand why the old couple would still want a divorce..

While they were signing the papers, the wife told the husband..
“I really love you, but i really can’t carry on anymore, I’m sorry..”
“It’s o.k., I understand..” said the husband. Looking at this, the lawyer suggested a dinner together with just the three of them. The wife thought, “Why not? since they are still gonna be friends..”

At the dining table, there was an awkward silence. The first dish was roasted chicken. Immediately, the old man took the drumstick for the old lady..
“Take this; it’s your favorite…”

Looking at this, the lawyer thought there might still be a chance for the relationship, but the wife was frowning when she answered..
“This is always the problem. You always think so highly of yourself and never thought about how I feel. Don’t you know that I hate drumsticks?”

Little did she know that over the years, the husband have been trying all ways to please her. Little did she know that drumsticks were the husband’s favorites? Little did he know that she never thought he understand her at all. Little did he know that she hates drumsticks even though all he wants is the best for her?

That night, both of them couldn’t sleep. Through the night, they toss and turn repeatedly… After hours, the old man couldn’t take it anymore, he knows that he still loves her, and he can’t carry on life without her. He wants her back; he wants to tell her he is sorry. He wanted to tell her “I love you”…

He picks up the phone, started dialing her number…. The ringing never stops.. He never stopped dialing….

On the other side, she was sad. She couldn’t understand how come after all these years; he still doesn’t understand her at all. She loves him a lot, but she just can’t take it anymore…. The phone rang but she refuses to answer knowing that it’s him…
“What’s the point of talking now that it’s over… I have asked for it and now I want to keep it this way. If not I will lose face…” She thought. With the phone still ringing, she decided to pull out the phone cord…

Little did she remember, he had heart problems…

The next day, she received news that he had passed away… She rushed down to his apartment and saw his body lying on the couch still holding on to the phone. He had a heart attack when he was trying to get through to her phone line….

As sad as she was, she have to clear his belongings. When she was looking through the drawers, she saw this insurance policy dated from the day they got married with the beneficiary being her. And together in those files, there was this note.

“To my dearest wife,

By the time you’re reading this, I’m sure I’m no longer around. I bought this policy for you. Though the amount is only $100k, I hope it will be able to help me continue my promise that I have made when we got married. I might not be around anymore but I want this amount of money to continue taking care of you just like the way I will if I could have live longer. I want you to know I will always be around by your side. I love you. “

Tears flowed like river……

“When you love someone, let them know… You never know what will happen the next minute… Learn to build a life together.. Learn to love each other… For who they are.. Not what they are…”

The Black Dot

BlackDotI have been use this story as an ilustration when I gave a building character training several month ago. This story was very useful to change our views and horizon of life

A small town chamber of commerce invited a speaker to address its annual dinner. The community’s economy was bad, people were discouraged, and they wanted this motivational speaker to give them a boost.

During her presentation, the speaker took a large piece of white paper and made a small black dot at the center with a marking pen. Then she held the paper up before the group and asked them what they saw.

One person quickly replied, “I see a black dot.”

“Okay, what else do you see?”

Others joined in agreement: “A black dot.”

“Don’t you see anything besides the dot?” – She asked.

A resounding “No” came from the audience.

“What about the sheet of paper?” – asked the speaker. “I am sure you have all seen it”, she said, “But you have chosen to overlook it.”

“In life, we also tend to overlook and take for granted many wonderful things that we have or happen around us and focus our attention and energy on small, dot like failures and disappointments. The so called ‘problems’ that we have are usually like the black dot on the paper. They are small and insignificant if we can widen our horizon and look at the whole picture.”

Are you one of the people who focus your attention and energy on dot-like problems?

The First hotel Manager

w121One stormy night many years ago, an elderly man and his wife entered the lobby of a small hotel in Philadelphia, USA. Trying to get out of the rain, the couple approached the front desk hoping to get some shelter for the night.

“Could you possibly give us a room here?” – The husband asked.

The clerk, a friendly man with a winning smile, looked at the couple and explained that there were three conventions in town. “All of our rooms are taken,” the clerk said. “But I can’t send a nice couple like you out into the rain at one o’clock in the morning. Would you perhaps be willing to sleep in my room? It’s not exactly a suite, but it will be good enough to make you folks comfortable for the night.”

When the couple declined, the young man pressed on. “Don’t worry about me, I’ll make out just fine,” the clerk told them.

So the couple agreed.

As he paid his bill the next morning, the elderly man said to the clerk, “You are the kind of manager who should be the boss of the best hotel. Maybe someday I’ll build one for you.”

The clerk looked at them and smiled. The three of them had a good laugh. As they drove away, the elderly couple agreed that the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding people who are both friendly and helpful isn’t easy.

Two years passed. The clerk had almost forgotten the incident when he received a letter from the old man. It recalled that stormy night and enclosed a round-trip ticket to New York, asking the young man to pay them a visit.

The old man met him in New York, and led him to the corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. He then pointed to a great new building there, a pale reddish stone, with turrets and watchtowers thrusting up to the sky.

“That,” said the older man, “is the hotel I have just built for you to manage.”

“You must be joking.” – The young man said.

“I can assure you I am not.” – said the older man, a sly smile playing around his mouth.

The older man’s name was William Waldorf-Aster, and that magnificent structure was the original Waldorf Hotel. The young clerk who became its first manager was George C. Boldt. This young clerk never foresaw the turn of events that would lead him to become the manager of one of the world’s most glamorous hotels.

Don’t be afraid to reach and touch someone’s life, you never know whose heart you may be touching.
